Rendering - 1994 |
This image was created
using Greg Ward's Radiance software, one of the best
lighting simulation software packages available. An
early attempt at 3-D rendering, the piece was created
without the use of modelling software, but was instead
created by hand editing the scene description file
in a text editor.

of the ears, the blackness of the clothes and hat,
the length of the nails and the depth of the navel.

sandpaper. The piece measures 8 x 10 inches, the standard
size of 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper found in a local
hardware store.

| Pastel
on Paper - 1992 |
This
piece depicts the artist's sister in a cafe in downtown
Brooklyn. In The title comes from a character in William
Gibson's "sprawl" series, and refers to the name on
the small piece of paper tacked above the photograph. If
one looks closely one can see that the artist has
drawn tiny camera optic markings around the cornea.
Taly Isham, according to Gibson, was (or will be)
a famous simstim (simulated stimulus) star, whose
eyes like those of everyone in her profession, had
been replaced by cameras. This painting is a picture
of someone's picture of someone who's eyes are continuously
taking pictures. Or something like that.

| Oil
on Canvas - 1991 |
This
is one of the few pieces the artist has done in oils
(as opposed to pastels) and depicts a collection of
objects in the spirit of Les Cerqueux sous Passavant
in rural France, the artist's home for four months
in the winter of 1991.

 |
| Pastel
on Paper - 1991 |
This
piece is one of several created while studying painting
and drawing in rural France. The model, Mme.
Boudry, often grew visibly bored during the four to
six week poses, inspiring similar feelings in those
attempting to capture her likeness. The
artist would frequently attack this waning enthusiasm
with little adventures into the whimsical and this
painting is the result of one such expedition.
